Pirate Dice Adventure Game (Based on Ship, Captain and Crew dice game)

Waffles the cat and friends are on a swashbuckling pirate quest. A quest for more waffles! Be the ship with the most waffles on treasure island. All you need is the printable game board below, 5 dice, player pieces (coins), a score card and at least 2 or more players.

HOW TO PLAY:

  1. Pick a coin/character: Each player (2+ players) must pick a unique coin or decorate that coin as a unique character from the Waffles the Cat Books.
  2. Roll: Roll all five dice on your turn. You have up to 3 rolls per turn.
  3. Secure the Ship (6): Set aside any 6s you roll. A 6 is needed before you can keep a 5, and a 5 before a 4. 
  4. Secure the Captain (5): After getting a 6, set aside any 5s you roll. 
  5. Secure the Crew (4): After getting a 6 and a 5, set aside any 4s. 
  6. Move your coin/character: Once you have your Ship, Captain, and Crew (6, 5, 4), pick one of the numbers on the remaining two dice. This is your "Wind Score" and will carry your ship across the board that many spaces.
  7. Reroll (Optional): You can use your remaining rolls to try and get a higher "Wind Score," but you must reroll both dice (or all remaining dice if you haven't secured the full set). 
  8. Zero Score: If you don't roll a 6, 5, and 4 within three rolls, you score zero for the round. 

Winning the Game

  • The player with the most waffles collected wins the game.

Key Rules

  • Order Matters: You must roll a 6, then a 5, then a 4 in sequence to secure them. 
  • Dice Set Aside: Once a Ship, Captain, or Crew die is secured, it stays out of play for that turn. 
  • Re-rolling for Wind Score: If you secure the Ship, Captain, and Crew early, you can use remaining rolls to try for a different wind score. 
  • Fire in the Hole: If two players land on the same space, they must battle for it! Each of the two players must roll one die at the same time. Highest roll wins. Loser must go back one space. Winner collects one waffle from the loser. If the loser has no waffles in their cargo, then the winner collects none.
  • Sea Creatures and Rough Seas: Players who land in the grey zones lose a turn. 
  • Treasure Island: The first player to reach treasure island gains two additional waffles.
